Parent consultation
Dr. Reid provides individualized support in navigating your family’s unique needs.
Parenting is one of the most rewarding and challenging roles in life. No matter how much we prepare, there are moments when we feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to best support our children. That’s where parent consultation comes in.
I offer personalized parent consultation sessions to help you navigate the complexities of raising children. As a licensed child psychologist, I understand that every child is unique, and parenting doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all manual. My goal isn’t to diagnose or pathologize your child, but to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to support their development and create a more peaceful, connected family environment.
Who is parent consultation for?
Parent consultation is ideal for:
Parents of young children (ages 0-12) who want to understand and support their child’s behavior and emotional needs
Families navigating big transitions, such as a new sibling, school changes, or divorce
Parents of neurodivergent children (autism, ADHD, sensory processing concerns) who need guidance on accommodations, emotional support, and advocacy
Caregivers who feel overwhelmed and want practical tools to foster a calmer, more connected home
If you're unsure whether parent consultation or therapy is the right fit, I can help determine the best approach for your family.

Co-parenting and blending families come with unique challenges, and I know how difficult it can be to navigate these transitions. Whether you’re co-parenting with a former partner or merging families with a new one, the process can feel overwhelming. Differences in parenting styles, communication struggles, and shifting family roles can bring frustration, stress, and even conflict—but you don’t have to figure it out alone.
I provide support and practical strategies to help you navigate these complexities with confidence. Together, we can:
Strengthen communication between co-parents to reduce misunderstandings and conflict
Develop co-parenting skills that prioritize your child’s well-being while respecting different parenting approaches
Establish healthy boundaries that create a more stable and supportive environment for everyone
My goal is to help you build collaborative, respectful relationships—so that, even in the midst of change, your child feels secure, understood, and connected.

Transitions are a natural part of life, but that doesn’t make them easy. Whether your child is starting a new school year, adjusting to a move, experiencing parental separation, preparing for a new sibling, or stepping into adolescence or adulthood, these changes can bring big emotions, disruptions in routines, and behavioral challenges. As a parent, it can feel overwhelming to know how to best support your child through these milestones.
I’m here to help you navigate these transitions with confidence and clarity. Together, we can:
Develop strategies to manage stress and emotions for both you and your child
Ensure your child feels heard, supported, and secure through life’s changes
Create a plan tailored to your child’s unique needs to ease the transition process
Strengthen communication, set appropriate boundaries, and manage behavioral shifts that may arise
Transitions don’t have to feel destabilizing. With the right tools and guidance, you can help your child adapt, grow, and thrive through life’s inevitable changes.

When a child struggles with a specific behavior—whether it’s refusing to sleep in their own bed, avoiding school, frequent tantrums, or difficulty following directions—it can leave parents feeling frustrated, exhausted, and unsure of what to do next. You may have tried different approaches, read all the parenting books, and sought advice from friends or family, yet nothing seems to work. That’s where parent consultation can help.
Rather than using one-size-fits-all strategies, I work with you to understand the root cause of your child’s behavior through a developmental and relational lens. Together, we will:
Identify what is underlying the behavior—whether it’s anxiety, sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation struggles, or difficulties with transitions
Develop practical, research-backed strategies tailored to your child’s needs
Explore how to set supportive boundaries while maintaining connection and trust
Adjust approaches as needed to find what works best for your child and family
Behavior is communication, and my goal is to help you decode what your child is trying to express so you can respond in a way that fosters growth, security, and positive change. With the right support, even the most challenging behaviors can become opportunities for connection and development.

Supporting a child with unique learning or developmental needs often means navigating complex systems, such as schools, healthcare providers, or community services. If your child has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan), a 504 Plan, or other support needs, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed by school meetings, assessments, and advocacy work—all while trying to ensure your child gets the services and accommodations they deserve.
Parent consultation can help you:
Understand your child’s rights and how to effectively advocate for them within school and healthcare systems
Prepare for IEP and 504 Plan meetings with confidence, knowing what to ask for and how to communicate concerns
Collaborate with teachers and school staff to create an environment where your child can thrive
Navigate referrals and outside services, ensuring your child has access to the right resources and support
Strengthen communication between school, home, and providers to create a more consistent and supportive experience for your child
Advocating for your child shouldn’t feel like a battle. With the right knowledge and guidance, you can feel empowered to work within these systems and ensure your child gets the support they need to succeed.
You Don't Have to Do This Alone
No matter what challenges you’re facing, you deserve support, and your child deserves to feel understood. Parenting doesn’t have to be overwhelming—you just need the right tools and guidance. I’m here to help you navigate this journey with confidence and connection.
